The Syrian Humanitarian Voice - Clarifying our Priorities

June 10, 2023

Washington, DC - The American Relief Coalition for Syria (ARCS) would like to emphasize that the Syrian crisis is a human rights crisis at its core that has evolved into a humanitarian crisis because of the brutal actions of the Syrian regime against its people. Thus, we will continue to support all efforts that ensure accountability to the Syrian people and that perpetrators of human rights abuses are held accountable and are not rewarded financially and politically. As diaspora humanitarian organizations and workers, we align with human rights demands, accountability, and justice principles.

Syrian diaspora organizations and workers demand protection of the humanitarian space, including safe access and operations for our colleagues in Syria.

We ask that all parties to the conflict allow unhindered and unfettered access to all humanitarian operations, with accountability, transparency, and the principle of non-interference at the core of these operations. And we continue to believe that cross-border humanitarian assistance into Northwest Syria is the most effective, efficient, and scrutinized humanitarian operation in Syria and should be allowed depending on humanitarian needs on the ground with no politicization.
